Right now, I could've been writing an entry about how I went to the movies with the boy, but I'm not.
Sigh.
Christmas was okay. Clothes, CDs, DVDs, a keyboard, chocolate ...
Mass was about how Jesus is not a pop idol.
On Boxing Day I called the boy to wish him merry Christmas and happy boxing day and ask him to the movies.
He said yes. We said we would meet last night at 7 at the theatre.
An hour later he calls and cancels, says he has to go to his stepdad's parents' for "some Jewish holiday."
My reply was "Um, Hannukah?"
"Yeah, that's what it sounded like. It's supposed to last eight days or some shit like that."
Being part-Jewish (if that is even possible), I know perfectly well what Hannukah is and teased him about his ignorance. He said we could reschedule, maybe for after the holidays.
Now my only fear is that he'll put it off, and put it off, and put it off again until we've both forgotten about it and it never happens ...
And everything will be the same ...
